Using Class Reports (NZ)

This article gives an overview of how you can use class reports.

In a class report, available NCEA, SMART, PAT, e-asTTle, and school-based results are aggregated at the class level.

To access class reports, click on the second tab Reporting, then the second sub-tab Class.

To view your class reports, change to Table view (top right) and enter your name in the search bar.

In a class report, you can:

  • Monitor student progress in your class

  • Analyse NCEA results by standard, gender, ethnicity and a selected field

  • Identify where students are at as indicated by PAT, e-asTTle or school based results

Features

NCEA Results

Visit the menu top right to:

  • Select the direct link to the related course report

  • View grades without entries, the Not Yet Assessed (NYA) results

  • Choose to view results by the number of credits rather than by the number of grades

  • Results are broken down by standard, gender, ethnicity and a selected field. The fields available for selection are those which are entered in KAMAR and shared with EdPotential.

  • You can order the results in the student list by clicking on a column heading. Click once to order from lowest to highest, or twice, to order by highest to lowest.

NCEA Overview

All the filters and columns you know from the NCEA Reporting page are present in the class report, narrowed to just the students in the selected class.

Use this section to check whether your students have passed their Literacy or Numeracy Requirement, whether they're on track for UE, and more.

Check out this guide to refresh your memory on how to use this report.

PAT and e-asTTle Class Summary

In the PAT and e-asTTle summaries, you can see your students results in each area assessed by PAT or e-asTTle assessments. The latest results are shown by default. To see earlier results, change the level in the dropdown menu.

Using the graph, you are able to:

  • Compare class results to school results in the side-by-side box plots

  • Compare class results to the national norm, the dotted line across each box plot

Using the summary section, you are able to:

  • Understand how class results compare overall to the school and national averages and spreads

Using the student list, you are able to:

  • Compare each student's results to the class averages. These comparisons are shown by the values and arrows in red and green.

Interactive Features

  • Enter a student's name in the Filter students search to filter for one student’s results

  • Click on a student's name to view a graph comparing the student's results to class and school results

  • Order the list by any column by clicking on the column heading

  • Click Export to export the list as a csv file

Course Results

If your school based assessment results have been mapped on EdPotential, your aggregated class results will show in your class report.

Use the filter at the top right of the comparison chart to view options. You may choose to compare course results in different assessments or between genders or ethnicities.

Effort Grades

If you enter Class Effort grades in the attendance section of KAMAR, and your KAMAR administrator has updated the settings to send this data through to us, Effort grades will be visible in class (and course) reports.

The options of filtering by gender or by ethnicity are visible when you select the filter icon (top right).

SMART Tool Assessment Results

If your school is assessing using the SMART tool, you can send results to us either in a file or via KAMAR Directory Services. These results will then be visible in class reports.

The labels indicate student levels in the other subject(s). Once there is data from more than one term, arrows will indicate movement between levels.
