This article gives an overview of the key features of EdPotential, particularly for Deans.

Overview | The dashboard provides a view of school-wide assessment data |
Purpose | School leaders are able to monitor progress over time by viewing longitudinal data |

Page Features | |
Show charts |
Click on a heading to open a chart |
Filter data | Click on Show options, and select a faculty and/or gender and/or ethnicity |
Chart Features | |
Hover | Hover your mouse over the chart sections to see the details |
Legend | Left click on a legend item to remove it from the chart Right click on a legend item to show only that item |
Menu | Click on the 3 dots at the top right of the chart to show options Change the chart view with Plot Vertical/Unstack Click on Show table to add a table of values |
Student Report |

Access | Click on the second tab Reporting |
|
|
Overview | All student data: student’s demographics, achievement history, qualification attainment, class history |
Purpose | Monitor student achievement towards qualifications Identify areas of success to be acknowledged and areas where support may be needed |
Access Student Report(s) |
|
One student | Begin typing a student's name into the search bar and their name will appear in the list below Click anywhere on the line with the student’s name |
Cohort | Filter for a cohort by clicking Show more filters in the top right, then make a selection (more on this below in Student Report Filters) |
Order list | Click on any list heading to order the list by that value e.g. Last name Click on the heading again to reverse the order |

NCEA Summary | |
Overview | Progress towards the attainment of NCEA by year and by NCEA Level |
Purpose | See at a glance

Certifications and Qualifications | |
Overview | Certificates and qualifications attained are in green, and those yet to be achieved are in red |
Purpose | See at a glance
|
Approved Subjects | |
Overview | The UE Approved Subjects in which a student is enrolled for at least 14 credits Typically only present for Year 13 students If a Level 3 subject the student is enrolled in is not shown in the chart, either the subject is not an approved subject or the student is not enrolled in at least 14 credits in that subject |
Purpose | Monitor a student’s progress towards attaining 14 credits in 3 approved subjects |
Junior Achievement Summary | |
Overview | If PAT or MidYIS assessment results are available, these will be shown here |
Purpose | Monitor a student’s progress through the junior years. Anticipate where extra support or extra challenges may be necessary |
Attendance | |

Overview | Attendance history by year or by month More details on this report can be found in our Attendance Report guide |
Student Overview | |
Overview | A table of all assessment results available for this student |
Purpose | Search for a particular assessment result Check results in a particular subject |
Tools | Click on the heading Type to order the results with NCEA results first Click on an assessment to see this student’s achievement compared to school and national results Click on Rows per page to see more assessment results at once |
Class History | |
Overview | Classes this student is enrolled in this year or has been enrolled in since data has been imported to EdPotential |
Purpose | Provides a list of classes the student is enrolled in. Class and course names are linked to reports allowing quick access to relevant reports. |
Student Report Filters |

Filter by Cohort | |
Access | Click on Show more filters |

Purpose | Identify students who meet user-specified criteria List all students within the chosen cohort Check the progress of each student or filter further to identify students excelling or at risk |
Options | Click on Show more filters in the top right, then make one or more selections, for example:

NCEA Filters | |
Access | Click Only NCEA students |
Purpose | Identify students who meet user-specified NCEA criteria Quickly identify students at risk and follow up with timely interventions |
Options | Click on Show more filters in the top right Click on NCEA Make one or more selections, for example:

NCEA Reporting |
|
Access | Click on the second tab Reporting Click on the fourth sub-tab NCEA |
Overview | A filterable and editable list of students and their progress towards NCEA |
Purpose | Create an exportable list of students within a selected cohort Create a filtered list of students who meet a selected criteria Include selected certifications, qualifications, and/or credit counts in the list |
NCEA Report Filters |

Access | Click on Show more filters |
Purpose | Select the group of students to be included in the table |
Options | Make one or more selections, for example

NCEA List Options |
|
Access | Click on Show column options |
Purpose | Select the columns to be included in the table Export the table to share or follow up with tutor group teachers Quickly identify students at risk and follow up with timely interventions |
Options | Click on the columns to be shown, and deselect columns not to be shown. For example, as above, filter to Year 13 then select columns:

Tools | Click on a column heading to order the table by that column Click anywhere on a row to open the report for that student Copy or export the table by clicking on the icon in the bottom left Show more rows in the table on the screen by clicking Rows per page |
