EdPotential Updates: March 2024

There are four updates live on EdPotential which will be of benefit in your analysis of NCEA results, which we've outlined below.

1. National Benchmarking Data 

The 2023 national results are now available for comparison in Explore the Data.

You can compare school results to national results by selecting All deciles once you have selected a standard or multiple standards.

To compare the results in one standard with national data, follow this path:

  • Go to the tab Explore the Data
  • Click Browse, then NCEA.
  • Click <NCEA level>
  • Select <Subject>
  • Select <Field>
  • Select <Domain>
  • Select <Standard>
  • Click Grade
  • Click OK
  • Select <year>
  • Choose Compare national: All deciles

We have recently received the Equity Index band limits from NZQA and are working to group national results by EI band.

2. Course Endorsements

Course endorsements are now visible in Student reporting and in Explore the Data.

A student's course endorsements can be viewed in the NCEA section of their report.

Subject endorsements can be viewed in Explore the Data.

To view your course endorsements, follow this path:

  • Go to the tab Explore the Data
  • Click Browse
  • Click NCEA
  • Click Course Endorsements
  • Click <school name>
  • Select <course name>
  • Click Endorsement
  • Click OK
  • Select <year>

3. 2024 NCEA calculations

​Calculations of the literacy and numeracy requirements and the literacy and numeracy co-requisite are now visible in student reports and in NCEA reporting.

These filters are in the Qualifications and Certifications section of the NCEA filters and columns.

​4. Filter for Year 13 students in past years

​You will now see a Selected year option in student report filters. 

To see 2023 Year 13 students:

  • ​Go to the tab Reporting
  • Click Show more filters
  • Select All students
  • Click OK
  • Choose Year levels between 13 and 13
  • Set Selected year to 2023
