Comparing NCEA results with schools in the same decile

Using EdPotential, you're able to compare NCEA results against national results for varying deciles.

This article outlines how to compare results for a specific Achievement Standard, however, you may also compare:

  • Unit standards.
  • Certificates (for Levels 1, 2 and 3 and for university entrance).
  • Scholarship results.

It is not currently possible to compare course endorsements against national standards. This is because there is no national standardised course endorsement, therefore it is not possible to compare your school against another for course endorsements.

  1. Click ok and select your Years of interest (e.g. 2020 and 2021). A chart will then be automatically generated.
    1. You can select a single year here instead of multiple years if you wish.
  2. Underneath the clear assessment selection option is Compare national. Click the drop down box and select your chosen decile (e.g. Decile 9).
  3. An additional chart will be automatically generated within the initial chart displaying national results for all decile 9 schools for the same assessment standard.

Move your cursor over the bars of the chart to view full details of the sample.

As with almost all charts on EdPotential, display the data horizontally or stacked by selecting the drop down menu in the upper right hand side of the chart.
