Viewing NCEA class achievement as a whole

Using EdPotential, you can view NCEA achievement for your entire school. This article outlines how you can access this data.

Example 1 - By standard

  1. Navigate to your Dashboard and click the My Classes heading. Select a class from the list (e.g. 12PHY-WAY). This will take you to the next screen: Present the data

  1. Click Browse in the What do you want to plot popup.
    1. The data displayed will only be related to the students in the class you selected in Step 1.
  2. Select your options:
    1. Qualification (e.g. NCEA).
    2. Qualification Level (e.g. NCEA L2).
    3. Subject/field of interest (e.g. Physics).
    4. Select the Standard of interest (e.g. 91168 - Physics 2.1 - Carry out a practical physics investigation that leads to a non-linear mathematical relationship).
    5. Click the results option that displays (there will only be one option), and click ok.

  1. If you also wish to compare results across a single year, select the required or available year under the heading Years of interest (e.g. 2021). 
    1. Data relating to ethnicity, gender, quintile and related classes can only be selected for a single year of interest, not multiple years.
  2. A bar chart will now generate automatically.
    1. The chart will always include the default selection under And compare results (in this example, it's across year selection) unless another option is selected.

Move your cursor across the bars of the chart to view full details of the sample.

Example 2: By VC score

  1. Repeat the steps from the first example above, up until step 2.d.
  2. Select the required Overall Totals (e.g. Physics L2 VC score).

Next, if you wish to compare results across a single year:

  1. Select the required or available year under the heading Years of interest (e.g. 2021). 
    1. Data relating to ethnicity, gender, quintile and related classes can only be selected for a single year of interest, not multiple years.
  2. A box and whisker chart will now be generated automatically.
    1. The chart will always include the default selection under And compare results (in this example, it's across year selection) unless another option is selected.

Move your cursor over the chart box to view full details of the sample.

Example 3: By credits

1. Repeat the steps from the first example above, up until step 2.d.

2. Select the required Overall Totals (e.g. Physics Credits)

Next, if you wish to compare results across a single year:

  1. Select the required or available year under the heading Years of interest (e.g. 2021). 
    1. Data relating to ethnicity, gender, quintile and related classes can only be selected for a single year of interest, not multiple years.
  2. A box and whisker chart will now be generated automatically.
    1. The chart will always include the default selection under And compare results (in this example, it's across year selection) unless another option is selected.
