Comparing PAT results from different years

You're able to compare PAT results from different years. This article explains how to easily do this.

  1. Start by logging in, then navigate to the Explore the data tab.
  2. Select Present the data.
  3. Next, click Browse (situated underneath What do you want to plot?) and select your options:
    1. Select the required Qualification (e.g. PAT).
    2. Select the required Type (e.g. Reading Comprehension).
    3. Select the required Syllabus (e.g. 9PATC - Year 9 Reading Comprehension).
    4. Select the required Results (e.g. Scaled score).
  4. Click ok, but don't select a year just yet!

  1. Click Browse and repeat the steps for the results you wish to compare to.
    1. Select the required Qualification (e.g. PAT).

    5. Select the required Results (e.g. Scaled score).
    6. Click Ok.
  2. Under the title And I’d like to plot these, select One against the other.
  3. Under the title Year for PAT 10PATC (Score), select a year for the first results you selected in Step 3 (in this case: Year 9, e.g. 2020)
  4. Under the title Year for PAT 10PATC (Score) select a year to compare to (e.g. 2021).
  5. A scatter plot will then be automatically generated!

Move your cursor over the points in the chart to view details of that sample. If you hover your cursor over the line of best fit you will be able to extract the chart equation and the R2 value.
