Getting Started with NCEA on EdPotential

Once your NCEA data (direct from NZQA) has been loaded into EdPotential, you will have access to some of the features offered by the platform. Additional features become available once data is loaded from your SMS.

EdPotential is split into three main tabs. The main areas to explore are:
  1. Viewing the dashboard
  2. Viewing simplified student reports
  3. Plotting results through the Explore the Data function

Dashboard

School overview:

The dashboard is where you are able to view your school's overall results. This page provides you with a snapshot summary of current and past performance.

My classes:

Classes currently (or historically) taught by you as a teacher will be visible. If only NZQA files have been uploaded, you will get a message No Data to Load. This feature will be available once SMS data is loaded.

Account:

You will be able to view the email address you have associated with the account and you may change your password through this section.

Reporting

Student:

Student reports are able to be viewed through this section.

If only NZQA files have been uploaded, you will only be able to view simplified student reports. You will be able to view NCEA results data, but limited demographic (E.g. age) information and no details on class enrolments.

Class:

Class reports (taught by a specific teacher) display an overview of results obtained by a teacher in a chosen class. You will not have access to this section if only your NZQA files have been uploaded.

These reports display overall results and results by student, assessment, gender and ethnicity.

Course:

Course reports display an overview of a school's results within a particular course within a chosen year.

These reports display overall results and results by class, assessment, gender and/or ethnicity. You will not have access to this section if only your NZQA files have been uploaded.

Explore the Data

The Explore the Data area allows you take a deeper dive into your school’s results.

Present the data gives you the ability to view the data in numerous ways, and compare results against one another. See the following articles for further information:

Refine the data allows an even more targeted search of results against a variety of criteria.
